In the Land of the Jews: The most remarkable people on earth

Sometimes in the Land of the Jews you meet someone who takes your breath away.

Someone with a glow.  Someone you would follow to the ends of the earth.

I met such a person a few weeks ago.

Someone to whom everyone comes for advice.  This person has no politics, no agenda, and is not 

selling anything. But has a smile. Oh what a smile.

This person had a difficult childhood and has endured bouts of depression, an experience which led to an 

overarching sympathy and empathy for all.

That's what comes through. You know this person would be there for you no matter what. 

My commanding officer in the IDF was such a person. I would go into battle with him tomorrow if

he asked me to join him. 

There are many, many people like this in the Land of the Jews.  Sooner or later, their glow will light up

the world.

How the Mir Yeshiva was saved during the Six-Day War

During the Six Day War, many people took refuge in the bomb shelter basement of the Mir Yeshivah in  Jerusalem.  After the war, some bachurim went up to the roof of the yeshiva and found three bombs there. Mesirut Nefesh

The Gemara (Avodah Zarah 9.) teaches that the world will exist for six thousand years. The first two thousand years are called תהו (void) because there was no Torah in the world. The following two thousand years are called the years of Torah. The final two thousand years is the era of Moshiach because Moshiach will come then." The Chofetz Chaim, the businessman, and a tsunami in China: A language that only Yidden understand

There was a Yid who moved to China for business. Once, while visiting in Europe, he made a stop at the Chofetz Chaim's zt'l home. "How are our brothers in China faring?" the Chofetz Chaim asked.
